Q. Are you licensed and insured?

A. Yes we do, and advise anyone thinking of getting a piercing or tattoo to ensure that their studio always has both.

 

Q. How old do you have to be to get tattooed?

A. The law states that no one under the age of 18 can be tattooed. Valid ID, license, military ID, or passport is required to get tattooed.

 

Q. Can I give consent for my son or daughter who is under 18 to get a tattoo?

A. No. The law states that no one under the age of 18 can be tattooed.

 

Q. How do you price tattoos?

A. We price based on size and detail. We have a shop minimum of £40. Everything starts there and goes up depending on size and detail. We only charge hourly rates for larger extensive work. Hourly rates vary between artists.
Q. Do you have to have an appointment? Do you take walk-ins?

A. We do work by appointment but we gladly accept walk ins if our schedule allows. If you don’t have an appointment you’re welcome to call ahead to see what the days workload is like. If you are seeking larger work, we always suggest making an appointment to allow proper preparation time. We are able to work off a waiting list each day if our schedule is full. You can leave us your name and number and if someone cancels or we finish an appointment early we can give you a call.

Q. Do I need to pay a deposit? A non-refundable deposit for an appointment? What’s that about?
A. When making the appointment we require £20 deposit on the number of hours that you book. For example, a two-hour appointment means a deposit of £40 and this will come off the price of the tattoo the day that you get it. A lot of work goes into setting up and preparing for an appointment. Taking a deposit gives us security to begin work and gives us more assurance that a client is serious. Deposits are non-refundable! If you can’t make an appointment we require at least 48 hours notice by phone or in person or you will lose the deposit. If you don’t show up, you lose the deposit. If you cancel in advance you don’t lose the deposit. We will roll the deposit to your new appointment time. We value our time and yours, please give us as much notice as possible when canceling.

When a customer has multiple sessions to complete a piece, we will roll the deposit to each appointment and it comes off the last appointments cost.

If you are out of town we accept online payment through PayPal. Cash is greatly appreciated in person.

Q. Do I need to bring ID with me?

A. You will be asked for I.D. if we are in ANY doubt that you may be under the age of 18, so please do not be offended if you are asked.

 

Q. Can I bring my friends to watch?

A. We don’t recommend bringing groups of friends along. They can be a distraction and disruptive to the process and in any case, will not be allowed into the tattooing area and there is not a lot to keep you entertained in the waiting area. If, however, you wish to have a friend present for support we will allow them to hang out for a bit until you are settled with your artist.
Q. How do I care for my tattoo?

A. It is important to follow these aftercare instructions to ensure that your tattoo stays looking as good as it possibly can. You have been tattooed in a modern studio with sterilized equipment and pigments. The artist has done everything within his ability to provide a clean environment and it is important that you continue to keep the tattoo clean and away from dirt. Infections in tattoos are very rare but if a tattoo does get infected it is usually due to exposure to unclean environments after the tattoo has been done. If you think this has happened with your tattoo then contact the tattooist immediately with your concern or consult your doctor.

 

 

Aftercare Instructions

Step one: The tattooist will dress your tattoo with cling film after it has been done (this keeps in moisture and keeps dirt away from the broken skin). Leave this on for two hours before removing the dressing. The tattoo will likely be inflamed and sensitive.

Step two: Wash the tattoo using warm (not hot) soapy water using your fingers. Do not rub at the tattoo and do not soak the tattoo for any length of time. Then rinse with cold water before allowing to dry.

Step three: Apply a thin layer of your tattoo aftercare that you purchased when you got your tattoo. Repeat 3-4 times daily.

For the first two weeks after your tattoo do not soak the tattoo for any lengthy periods of time (showering is better than baths). Keep the tattoo moisturized using the aftercare balm and the scabbing will be minimal. Do not pick or scratch any scabs that may occur, simply apply the aftercare balm and allow to heal naturally. Most importantly keep the tattoo clean! Poor aftercare can lead to infection, loss of colour and ultimately a poor looking tattoo. The tattooist will do everything he can to ensure your tattoo will look the best it can (it’s walking advertisement after all) but if the tattoo gets infected or heals badly due to poor aftercare, this is beyond the tattooists control and he can not be held responsible.

Things to avoid!
At Fat Fugu Collective we want the quality to stay in your tattoo as much as you do, so please DO NOT expose to any of the following elements for at least 3-6 weeks.

Swimming – Chlorine can bleach and destroy your body art, at best it will certainly fade the tattoo.

Sauna – Using a sauna is saying to your tattoo that you don’t want it to heal. The skin pores need to stay closed to stop any infections and with the heat of a sauna your pores will stay open and consequently your tattoo will be open to infections, “we don’t want that now do we”!!

Sun Beds & Sun Light – Using a sun bed will not only bleach the colours in your tattoo but it wall also burn the unhealed skin.
